at Llancaiach Fawr

    • Award winning learning experiences for schools, colleges and adult leisure learners

    Any visit to Llancaiach Fawr Manor is entertaining but it is also a learning experience – for all ages.

    We are proud holders of the Sandford Award for Excellence in Heritage Education in recognition of our work with schools across the country.

    For schools and colleges we offer a range of formal education and learning opportunities at all Key Stages as well as specialist vocational modules including Welsh Bacc and Leisure, Tourism and Business Studies.

    Student teacher visits and INSET days are also available.

    Foundation Phase up to KS3

    • Foundation Phase (Early Years and KS1)
      We currently run a tour of the Manor with costumed staff and a simple introduction to life in the past.
    • KS2 History
      Our costumed interpreters routinely theme the tour of the Manor to Tudors, Stuarts or Houses & Households. Other themes available on request.
    • KS3 History
      A tour of the Manor incorporates the themes of War and Rebellion, Religion, Government and Parliament plus Social History.

    We can arrange a DAY PACKAGE tailored to your needs. Combine a tour of the Manor with three workshops to create a full day of activities to suit the particular requirements of your group for only £10 per student.

    Timings

    Tours of the Manor House last one and a half hours and start at 10am, 11.30am and 1.30pm each day.

    Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the tour start time as a member of staff will brief your group prior to entry to the manor. Please leave enough time during your visit to explore the exhibition and make maximum use of the Visitor Centre services.

    Group sizes

    The Manor House has three floors and we usually limit numbers to approximately 35 per floor.  In each tour time slot we can take up to c.100 children in total by splitting them into 3, starting each group on a different floor and progressively moving them around the House.

    Prices

    Tour of the Manor and use of Visitor Centre services costs £6 per child/student. Workshops can be arranged for an extra £2 per head. Day Packages cost £10 per head.

    Supervision

    We admit one adult free of charge per 10 children for supervision purposes.  Extra assistants for children who require 1:1 care or have special needs are also admitted free of charge.

    Risk Assessment

    We continually monitor risk and have drawn up a list of information which should be studied by teachers prior to the visit and have included a matrix for Specific Risk Assessments. See the Risk Assessment documents linked below:
